Chasing your dreams can be the most fleeting of experiences. Fulfillment requires tenacity, perseverance, and patience—all at once. And that’s something hall of famers Ann and Nancy Wilson, of the band Heart, know all too well.
In their children’s book, Dog & Butterfly, the duo tell the enchanting story of a scruffy puppy whose dream it is to catch a butterfly. One might say there’s a bit of autobiographical undertone there.
“I feel that I have caught my butterfly, but it gets away, and then you have to catch it again. Can you ever really catch a butterfly?” Nancy says in the below video above.
But that’s not the only bit of personal influence used for the delightfully illustrated e-book. “The story comes from the beautiful mom that we had,” Nancy continues. “She would be the one to say, ‘You’re looking so far for something that’s right here.’”
Ann adds, “The teaching is if you really want something and you’re willing to go after it and go after it and be patient, there’s a possibility it will come to you.”
And that’s what makes dreams so magical and ultimately satisfying to achieve.
