Go on a perilous journey of thrill and excitement with one of these awesome adventure books. Adventure books usually follow a character on some kind of mission or journey, as they overcome obstacles and explore. They are full of exciting scenes and dangerous challenges that push the characters to their limits.

Within the genre of adventure books, there are also action books. Action books have a focus on high octane, heart-quickening action sequences that turn up the pressure on the protagonist.

Adventure and action books can have a lot of crossover with other book genres, they can have mysteries that need to be uncovered, scientific or supernatural elements to enhance the world building, and romantic interests to further complicate the mission at hand.

The best adventure books and the best action books make readers feel like they are right there in the story, racing against the clock to achieve their goal and hopefully escape the dangers with their life. One classic must-read action adventure book is Robert Louis Steven’s famous Treasure Island. More recently, all of Robert Ludlum’s books are great examples of action packed novels, including his Jason Bourne Identity, the inspiration for the well-known action films.

Yes-—adventure is a book genre along with being a movie and tv genre! There are many amazing adventure books like the books of Dan Brown, whose The Davinci Code inspired the movie of the same name, and Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park series.

Yes! Just like your favorite movies and TV shows, books can contain all of the car chasing, midair bullet dodging, helicopter flying, and gritty, exciting storylines that you love. Some of your most beloved action movies may even be adapted from books! Did you know that The Bourne Identity was originally a novel by Robert Ludlum or that Die Hard is based on Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorpe?
